Kitchens and bathrooms are probably some of the key areas where you end up spending a lot of money if you are not handy. Now a days it is very common to have luxury decorative hardwares like Amerock cabinet knobs, Amerock hinges, delta faucets etc installed in them. Some kitchen/bathh designers even use architectural reproductions and cabinet hardware antiques made in solid brass and finished with oil rubbed bronze which are quite expensive. All these antique or contemporary hardware needs special care. But they can be done by yourself.

For example: Some really simple plumbing solutions can be solved without ever having to call the plumber. Although it may seem like a daunting
task installing a kitchen sink is one such task. If you follow a step by step guide and are thorough with your measurements
then it should be as easy as replacing a light bulb.
If you are replacing an existing sink then it might be good to take the measurements of the old sink (width, length and
depth). If you are putting in a new sink in a new kitchen then you can take the measurements of the countertop and the
cabinet below. Most sink manufacturers will provide you with a template. Place the template so as to provide a space of about
1 1/2 inches back from the countertop’s front edge. If your sink is deeper then you can push it further back but no more than
4 inches. Mark the outline. Drill 3/8″ holes at all the four ends of the outline. With the help of a saber blade cut out
this piece moving from one hole to the other.
Before putting the sink in place install the faucet and the sprayer. This will make the whole process easier than trying to
fit them after the sink is in place. Follow the manufacturer’s guide to installing the faucets and the sprayer. Next overturn
the sink and apply some putty or silicone caulk on the underside of the sink lip. Flip it and place it into the cavity of the
countertop. The putty applied at the edges of the sink will create a watertight seal between the sink and the countertop.
Once the sink is set then connect the P-trap. Join the cold and hot water pipes to the supply lines. Connect the strainer to
the drain line. Turn on the water at the shut off the valves. Remove the aerator from the faucet and let the water run for a
minute or two. Then reinstall the aerator. Your sink is ready for use.
